Winter Mindfulness Retreat announced for Feb. 15-19

The Bluewater Community of Mindful Living is happy to announce our annual Winter Mindfulness Retreat in Vanderbilt, Michigan, February 15-19, 2012.

Please join us for the weekend, all five days, or for a single day of mindfulness at Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat Center. A four hour drive from Detroit or Grand Rapids, Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat Center is on eight hundred beautiful, wooded acres along the Pigeon River north of Gaylord.

Sitting and walking meditation, dharma discussions, early morning walks to greet the day, silent meals of gratitude and other activities in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh will be offered.

This year, Saturday will be organized as a single Day of Mindfulness, allowing people to join us for a day of practice without the expense of overnight accommodation. Most people will enjoy the opportunity to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday but nearby friends are encouraged to come join us on Saturday at 11:00 AM if possible. Others can take advantage of the full five days of practice. Please come join us when you can.

The winter retreat has become an anticipated event for those who enjoy the deep quiet of the north woods in winter. Our lives are often busy and complex. Mindfulness practice is an opportunity to slow down and focus on the important things of life. It is not necessary to have any special religious orientation to participate. Everyone is cordially welcomed to join us for this time together. The practice is simple, easy to follow, and of benefit to all. Allowing yourself to enjoy peace and quiet in the beautiful, natural surroundings with the companionship of like-minded spiritual friends can be transformational.

We sit. We walk. We enjoy the nourishment of food and friends.

The cost is around fifty dollars a night for a bed in the “Dormitory Domes” with a 15% discount for overnight stays on Wednesday and Thursday. Students with ID receive a 25% discount. Delicious vegetarian meals are included. Some private rooms are available for an additional cost.

Please review the accommodations at http://www.songofthemorning.org/lodging.html
